“What are some boots I can wear with wide leg jeans?”
“Send me some options for oversized blazers that won’t completely drown me.”
“I need some tops for dinner that aren’t too sexy but aren’t t-shirts.”
These are the types of questions I receive quite regularly from friends and acquaintances, and one of the main reasons I have decided to start a substack. But another few other reasons include:
STYLING: Most of my career in fashion was as a buyer where it was my mission to understand the store’s customer and what she wanted to wear. Now that I’m a mom of 4: 2 boys, Asher (9), Cole (7) and 2 identical twin girls, Kaia and Bella (3.5), and living in the beautiful suburbs of Connecticut, I have come to understand what women of my age (let’s say around 40 😉) want to wear, they’re just not sure how to wear it in a chic and stylish way.
CURATION: In addition to buying chic and stylish essentials, women of a certain age might not know where to buy the best options. And that’s where I come in! The World Wide Web is an overwhelming place of endless aisles, and I am here to scout out the best of the best.
I’ll probably regret saying this later, but there’s something about this format that speaks to me more than Instagram or short format posts. It’s perfectly imperfect.
My first job out of was at Lucky Magazine (hopefully some of my readers will remember this incredible publication - the first magazine about shopping - and basically a foreshadow into the internet era of content creation), and under the helm of the fabulous Kim France and Andrea Linett, our mission was to be akin to our reader’s stylish best friend. From there I hopped over to the business of fashion to be a buyer, but I always hung on to that idea of being your stylish best friend. I used it throughout my buying career and that’s what I will bring here. Simple and straightforward: what to wear, how to wear it and where to find it. So please subscribe - I’ll be back with my official first post soon!
